Shop the complete Abyss bath towel collection at Fine Linen and Bath. Abyss towels are crafted in Portugal from 100% Egyptian Giza cotton, woven to 700 GSM for exceptional softness, weight, and absorbency.

Unlike standard Egyptian cotton towels, Abyss uses Giza 70 extra-long staple cotton in all three weaving directions: weft, warp, and pile. This triple-weave technique produces a towel that is denser, more absorbent, and more durable than any single-weave alternative. Each towel is pre-shrunk and piece-dyed so the label, trim, and body color match perfectly from the first wash.

The collection covers every bathroom need: hand towels, bath towels, bath sheets, wash cloths, and guest towels, available in over...

Luxurious Bath Towels Crafted from Egyptian Giza Cotton

Abyss towels are made from Egyptian Giza extra-long-staple cotton, renowned for its softness, strength, and durability. This exceptional cotton, specifically Giza 70, features exceptionally long fibers, which contribute to the extra softness and absorbent qualities that make Abyss towels a favorite among luxury brands. Unlike other brands, Abyss weaves this extra-long-staple cotton in all three directions—weft, warp, and pile—using a double twist technique. This unique weaving method results in luxury bath towels that are stronger, longer-lasting, and incredibly low in lint.

Exceptional Craftsmanship and Durability

Abyss bath linens go beyond softness and absorption. Abyss invests more weight into the pile of the bath towel, making it dry better than other towels of...

FAQ on abyss towels

Many towels marketed as Egyptian cotton contain only a small percentage of actual long-staple Egyptian cotton, or use cotton grown in Egypt that isn't necessarily extra-long staple. The label is largely unregulated. Abyss & Habidecor operates differently.

What Sets Abyss Apart

Fiber quality

Abyss uses 100% certified extra-long staple (ELS) Egyptian cotton — specifically Giza cotton, among the longest and finest fibers grown. Longer fibers mean smoother yarn, less pilling, greater strength, and a softer hand that improves with washing.

Construction & GSM

Their signature Super Pile towels are woven at around 700–900 GSM with a dense, cut-pile loop construction. The pile height and density create that signature "sinking in" feel that's hard to replicate at lower GSMs.

Yarn spinning

Abyss uses a combed and carded process that removes short fibers and impurities before spinning, resulting in a cleaner, more uniform yarn with better absorbency and a more refined surface.

Color program

Abyss offers one of the widest color ranges in the luxury towel category — over 60 shades — using colorfast dyes that hold up well over time.

Abyss & Habidecor is famous for their extensive color program. Their most popular towel Super Pile comes in 60 colors. Twill and Pousada towels are available in 30 beautiful colors.

Yes! Abyss & Habidecor was founded in 1992 in Portugal, and manufactures their towels there. The traditional Portuguese manufacturer exclusively uses Egyptian cotton and transforms it into fine towels and bath rugs.

Portugal is worth noting as a point of quality distinction — the country has a long heritage of superior textile production, and manufacturing in-house (rather than outsourcing) gives Abyss tight control over consistency and construction standards.
