How To Wash Abyss Towels
Always read and follow label directions for any new home linen, including an Abyss bath towel. Your Abyss towels should be washed prior to first use to maximize their softness and absorbency. Carefully remove any plastic tags with scissors from the new towel; do not pull the tags as this can damage the towel. Follow these directions for washing:
- Sort your towels by color (light and white towels, dark towels, colored towels) and by weight before washing. You should wash towels of a similar weight together, bearing in mind that larger and/or heavier GSM towels will take up more room in your washing machine. Do not overload your machine.
- When washing bath towels, choose a detergent specially formulated for luxury linens like Heritage Park All-Purpose Laundry Detergent. Made to effectively clean without causing damage to fine fabric, this concentrated, pH-neutral liquid is perfect for washing Abyss towels. It contains a proprietary blend of laundry enzymes that work to target and remove even the toughest stains. The fragrance-free formula is hypoallergenic and pediatrician and dermatologist tested.
- Pre-treat any stains prior to washing (you can also use Heritage Park All-Purpose Laundry Detergent as a concentrated enzyme soak).
- Never use chlorine bleach, will cause your Abyss towels to fade, or fabric softener, which leaves a waxy build up that will damage the towel’s fibers and hinder absorbency.
- Machine wash your Abyss towels in cool to warm water in a separate load (see #1 above). Washing towels with other items can cause damage as buttons, zippers, and embellishments on clothing can pull at the towel’s pile and cause fraying during the wash cycle. There is never a need to dry clean your Abyss towels.
- Give the clean towel a gentle shake when removing from the washing machine to fluff the fibers and speed the drying process.
- Dry towels on medium heat (excessive heat will damage the cotton fibers and lead to shrinkage). NEVER use a dryer sheet which leaves a waxy buildup on your towels. Instead, use organic wool dryer balls to soften and speed drying time. Do not iron your towels.
- Fold and stack clean towels in a cabinet away from light and moisture. Carefully snip any loose threads with scissors down to the level of the towel’s pile to prevent any further pulls or snags.
Care tip: Avoid throwing a used wet towel or damp towel into a pile before laundering as this causes bacteria, germs, mold, and mildew to grow. Instead, hang a towel to dry between washings to prevent a musty smell.
Reviving and Restoring Your Abyss Bath Towels
Over time, repeat laundering can cause even the most luxurious towels to lose a bit of their softness. This is almost always due to mineral build up from water that settles in individual towel fibers. Fortunately, you can restore and revive your Abyss towels with three simple steps using just baking soda and white vinegar.
- Wash your towels in warm to hot water -- not scalding -- with one cup of white distilled vinegar. This will strip towels of any built-up residue and help restore absorbency. DON'T USE DETERGENT, only white vinegar.
- Run the load a second time using only a half-cup of baking soda. This will help freshen and remove any lingering smells. AGAIN, DON'T USE DETERGENT, only baking soda.
- Dry according to instructions WITHOUT fabric softener sheets.
You can repeat this process when needed for soft, fluffy towels that smell fresh.

Habidecor bath rugs come in a variety of styles and designs including solid rugs and fashion specialty patterns, so be sure to read your rug’s specific care guidelines before laundering and follow these general instructions:
- Wash your Habidecor rug before the first use, removing all tags first with scissors.
- Machine wash your luxury bath mat and luxury bath rugs in cold water.
- Use the proper amount of Heritage Park All-Purpose Laundry Detergent.
- Give the bath mat/rug a gentle shake to fluff after removing it from the machine.
- Tumble dry your bathroom mat on low heat if allowed.
Here are a few more tips for maintaining and caring for your Habidecor rug:
DO launder your Habidecor bath rug regularly. Once a week is typically recommended to maintain comfort, softness, and absorbency when leaving the shower.
DO machine wash bath rugs in a separate load.
DO take your rug outside and shake loose as much dirt from the bathroom floor as possible.
DON'T use too much detergent. You can also add an extra rinse cycle to the wash to ensure all the soap is rinsed out.
DON'T put your bath mat in a hot dryer, which will damage the cotton. Tumble dry on LOW HEAT ONLY, stopping the cycle periodically to 'fluff' the mat will help reduce drying time. Consider using wool dryer balls to soften and speed the dry time.
NEVER use bleach, fabric softener, or dryer sheets on your Habidecor bath rug.
Care Tip: For a heavier rug, consider using only a front-loading machine without an agitator.
