About Le Blanc: The Art and Science of Fine Fabric Care
Nearly four decades ago, the owner of a luxury linen store prevailed upon her chemist father-in-law for help solving a serious problem: the lack of detergent formulated to care for fine linens. At the time, very few detergents could remove stubborn stains and discoloration from luxury linen without damaging delicate fabric.
The result of his efforts was Le Blanc Linen Wash. Today, the Le Blanc collection has expanded to include a range of products, including those carried by Fine Linen and Bath: Original Linen Wash, Lavender Linen Wash, Towelwash in Summer Verbena, and Original Silk and Lingerie Wash.
“The Fine Linen and Bath team are more than just retailers of luxury linens,” said Brand Manager Erika Smith. “We are personally passionate about fine home textiles, with extensive collections of our own. Using a gentle detergent like Le Blanc makes caring for luxury linens safe, easy, and stress free.”
Find Your Perfect Le Blanc Detergent at Fine Linen and Bath
Why choose a “luxury” detergent like Le Blanc? Because aggressively attacking stains will damage fabric and fibers. Unlike regular detergent, LeBlanc products go beyond cleaning and work to care for and preserve your home textiles. They clean gently and can be used in any water temperature. With several formulas to choose from, you’ll find the best Le Blanc detergent for your needs:
Le Blanc Linen Wash is designed to launder luxury bed and table linens, and all linen items. Our triple-concentrated formula works extra hard to fight oils, whether they come from food or skin, while protecting fibers to preserve the original beauty of fine textiles and apparel. Le Blanc Linen Wash may be used on all linens as well as all cottons, synthetics, and blends. Safely launder antique linens, household bedding, table linens, lace, quilts, christening gowns, apparel, and for everyday laundering of clothing. All Le Blanc products work in cold water, so you never have to worry about heat breaking down the threads.
Fine Linen and Bath carries Le Blanc Linen Wash in two scents: Original, with a fresh floral jasmine and hyacinth fragrance infused with notes of apple, kiwi, herbs, citrus zest, and precious woods; and Lavender, a tranquil soothing blend of deep wild lavender laced with rosemary, bergamot, and rose.
Le Blanc Towelwash is an exceptional cleanser designed for all washable and colorfast bath linens including bath towels, bath mats, terry robes, and more. It contains no softeners or optical brighteners and is formulated to protect fibers from drying out, fading, or discoloration. Even after repeated washing, bath linens will remain soft, strong, and absorbent. Fine Linen and Bath carries Summer Verbena Towelwash, a bright and refreshing fragrance showcasing orange flowers with hints of jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, fresh greens, geranium, lavender, amber, and musk.
Le Blanc Silk & Lingerie is an exceptional cleanser designed for safely laundering intimate apparel, fine clothing, silk bedding or table linens, swim wear, active wear, hosiery, and more. It is formulated to protect elasticity and preserve the original look and shape of personal garments and delicate fabrics. Use Silk & Lingerie Wash on silk, cashmere, wool, alpaca, LYRCA®, spandex, cottons, synthetics, and blends. Silk and Lingerie Original is a luxurious scent that matches the Original Linen Wash (see above).
Tips for Laundering Fine Bath Towels, Bed Linen, and Table Linen
Using the proper laundry protocol for luxury home textiles is every bit as important as selecting the right detergent. Here are a few guidelines derived from our decades of expertise at Fine Linen and Bath:
- Always read the manufacturer’s care guidelines and follow them. Most luxury home linens can safely be laundered in your washing machine.
- Wash your bed sheets, bath towels, and table linens before using them for the first time.
- Sort your linens by color, weight, and care guidelines. In general, we recommend washing towels, sheets, and table linens in their own dedicated loads to protect them from damage.
- Pre-treat any stains prior to washing with an enzyme stain remover (do not enzyme cleaner on fabrics like silk or wool).
- Don’t overload your machine. Put delicates and/or small items in mesh laundry bags to protect them.
- Use the proper amount of laundry detergent and a normal or delicate cycle (we recommend a gentle liquid detergent like Le Blanc Linen Wash). Never use fabric softener, which leaves a waxy buildup on clothes, linens, and your machine.
- Shake out your items after removing them from the washer.
- If instructions permit, tumble dry on low heat (a hot dryer will damage fine fibers). Never use any type of dryer sheet; these contain harsh chemicals that damage fabric. To naturally soften sheets and towels, use wool dryer balls. Do not put silk, wool, or other protein-based fabrics in the dryer. These should be hung to dry away from direct sunlight. Cool iron if necessary.

How do you wash high quality sheets?
Sort by color and weight. Wash on a gentle or regular cycle with a detergent made for luxury linen. Tumble dry on low and cool iron if necessary.
How to wash cotton sheets for the first time?
Carefully remove all packaging and inserts. Wash new cotton sheets in their own load before putting on your bed. Use a small amount of detergent made for fine linen. We recommend a gentle cycle and cool to lukewarm water. Tumble dry on low. You can use a cool iron or put the sheets directly on the bed and smooth wrinkles by hand.

Wash bed sheets on a gentle or permanent-press setting, cool or lukewarm water (unless the manufacturer’s guidelines recommend otherwise).
What is the best laundry detergent for towels?
