Jacquard Weave: Pattern, Depth, and Beauty
Jacquard weave is a luxurious, layered form of textile design that dates back to the Middle Ages. Since the early 1800s, jacquard textiles have been produced on a loom. Jacquard fabric features repeating patterns woven directly into the fabric; these designs can be quite complex with repeating patterns. Examples of jacquard fabric include damask and brocade that feature floral and natural motifs. Jacquard lends itself to draperies, bedding, and luxury bath and table linen.

Pure Mulberry Silk: Thousands of Years of Luxury
The art and science of silk production -- known as sericulture -- originated in China more than four thousand years ago. Beautiful and luxurious, silk fabric was even used as currency in China and opened up trade with the West through the fabled routes of the Silk Road through Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and Europe. Over time, silk production spread to the West. By the 15th century, France and Italy were known leading manufacturers of silk in Europe. Today, China is once again the largest manufacturer of cultivated silk. Learn more about the history of silk here.
Pure mulberry silk is the finest in the marketplace. Woven from the cocoons of silkworms fed exclusively mulberry leaves, this fabric is known for its beauty and wellness benefits. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase, sheets, or bedding tames hair tangles, breakage, and bedhead; minimizes sleep wrinkles; keeps hair and skin hydrated; and regulates body temperature. Silk is also naturally non-irritating to sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, and resistant to mold and dust mites. Of course, silk bedding is absolutely luxurious to the touch. Bonus: Mulberry Park Silk sheets are washable in your machine at home!

Egyptian Cotton: The Finest on Earth
In the world of luxury linen, Egyptian cotton stands alone as the superior fabric for cotton bedding and bath linens. Egyptian cotton fibers are longer, stronger, and more durable because they are grown under specific geographic and climate conditions. The resulting cotton yarn is finer and smaller in diameter than other cottons and can be woven into fabric with more threads per square inch. It is luxurious, strong, and lightweight. Pure Egyptian cotton also breathes exceptionally well; an Egyptian cotton sheet set or cotton bedspread will feel supremely comfortable and grow softer with use, while Egyptian cotton towels are wonderfully absorbent. When shopping for luxury bedding or bath towels, look for products labeled "Egyptian Cotton" and the words "long staple cotton" or "extra-long staple cotton." Learn more about Egyptian Cotton here, and read about a special type of Egyptian Cotton known as Giza cotton here.

Hemstitched and Embroidered Linen: Artisanal Design Details
Design details such as embroidery and hemstitch transform home linens into stunning works of art. Embroidery, which is decorating a piece of fabric with needle and thread, dates back tens of thousands of years to the earliest known civilizations. The craft of embroidery became more widespread during the Middle Ages where elaborate stitching on clothing and household items came to signify wealth and social status and, in the case of monograms or crests, familial lineage. Today, embroidery can be found on all manner of clothing and home linen.
Hemstitching is a form of decorative “drawn thread work” made by pulling out several parallel threads and tying the cross threads together into tiny bunches. Small ornate holes are made in the fabric and are patterned designs that resemble lace. Learn more about hemstitching here.

Luxury Blankets: Form and Function Unite
The blanket has quite a storied history. Early versions of blankets can be found in the tombs of ancient Egypt, but the first modern blankets were woven on a loom in the 1300s by an English weaver named (unsurprisingly) Thomas Blanket. These wool blankets were cleaner and more effective at maintaining warmth during sleep than plants, leaves, furs, or animal skins. With the industrial revolution, blankets evolved from being a prized luxury to a modern convenience. Today, blankets are functional decorative accessories loved by interior designers and home furnishing aficionados alike. Learn about the difference between a blanket and a decorative throw blanket here.
SFERRA Celine Throw Blanket
The Celine is SFERRA’s best-selling throw, and it is easy to understand why! It blends a great palette of subdued, relaxing colors with cream in a plush cotton herringbone weave (our favorite is the subtle Charcoal grey). The SFERRA Celine throw blanket is available in thirteen colors. Size: 51" x 71” Price $99.
SFERRA Kingston Blanket
The SFERRA Kingston Blanket uses a classic waffle weave of cotton thermal designed to shelter warmth, while its pure cotton offers dulcet softness and inviting comfort. Pre-shrunk so it stays generously sized to accommodate deep mattresses.
